For over a century, the name Marberger has been synonymous with expertise and know-how in all aspects of wood as a raw material in the Tyrolean town of Ötztal-Bahnhof. As a family-run business with strong regional roots now in its fourth generation, it is the leading specialist for wood and wood-based materials in Tyrol.
The long-established company offers its customers a wide range of wood and furniture boards, laminates, solid and construction timber, facade solutions, parquet flooring, and decking. Ensuring an efficient logistics chain and thus fast delivery to the end customer is a high priority. That is precisely why Holz Marberger opted for a storage solution from Grundner Sondermaschinen in 2022.
Until now, panels have been handled in the existing racking system using 4-way forklifts and manual picking. The aim was to replace this with an intelligent storage system with fully automated picking. The storage system consists of two levels, each with one manipulator. If more throughput is required in the future, it is possible to expand to two manipulators per level. The four input bays allow up to ten plate packages to be stored at the same time.
The highlight of the system is fully automatic labeling (ETP) of the finished, picked, and bundled packages. The A4-sized labels are attached to the edge of the packages. Warehouse staff can scan all the information required for allocation and loading directly from the forklift using QR codes. The label design is flexible: company logo, additional information, QR or barcodes.
